noisy clutch!

my girfriends 400 bros has developed a rattle from the clutch as you pull the lever in! when you select 1st gear it dissapears, but now shes complaining its really hard to selct neutral especially from 1st, any one any ideas of the problem?

My 88 does the same. It's not real loud, but noticable. I put a fresh clutch in last year, so shifts and neutral are very positive with no problems.

I just wrote it up as design....

did you replace just the springs and plates or the whole basket?

Clutch plates, steels and springs (went with OEM springs). The actual basket is original.
