    The Need of Sound

I was wondering if there was a way to make my stock exhaust a little louder until I can get the sound and the performance of a full exhaust? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Many years ago Selden Deemer wrote up exactly what you're looking for on the hawkgt.com list. I don't think the search function there is working anymore, though...short version is that sound can be improved, but performance (and obviously weight) are still somewhat compromised.

      Drill out your baffles.

      Drill out your airbox.

      More power--more noise--more good!

How do you go about drilling out the baffles? Just use a drill bit and go right the rivet? How do you get the rivets out?

Mm... I believe this was talked about on a topic "how to keep the original exhaust appearance" (or something like that). Anyways, someone said on that thread (or a link on that thread) that you drill out the rivets, and use a punch to knock out the remaining part of the rivet (if any is left). They said that the can is very well rusted over the baffle and is really hard to separate so don't be discouraged...
          hope this helps

            This is very easily done.

I think there are four rivits that hold the baffle in place, 1/16" right??--anyway drill those four out (facing the tailpipe from the rear--looking into the tailpipe) then pull out the baffle. It will look like a small bottle--fat side towards the end of the tailpipe. Drill holes into the the thin part part of the baffle--mine ended up looking like swiss cheese--I have an M4 + pods now.

My opinion is to convert to pods first--better noise/power gain in my opinion--not proven scientifically though!!!

I removed the baffle as described and discarded it entirely, then added pods.
I'm happier with both sound and performance. Good way to go if you're a cheapskate like me. for what it's worth, this setup seems to work pretty well with my Dynojet stage 2 kit (144's)
