    How to raise forks

I'm tired of understeering out of corners and want to raise my forks 10mm. I was thinking of losening one at a time and tapping the bottom of the fork with a piece of wood and a hammer.

    Any tips?

Not really a good idea. You really want to get them where you want them all at once and then tighten everything at the same time. If you tap them one at a time you can get things bound up and cause excessive stiction which will hurt the ride.

I don't know how stock hawks behave on their center stands but I would get the bike propped up with the front wheel off the ground and then loosen all the pinch bolts and place something under the front wheel (stack of vinyl foor tiles maybe) to support the tubes where you want them andthen GENTLY snug everything then go back and torque everything. Careful as it is very easy to overtorque pinch bolts and break things.

Get it on the center stand and have someone sit on the rear seat - it'll lift up the front.

        Thanks for the replies lads.
I guess I'll have to hun't down a centre stand, I binned mine a long time ago.

For what you are likely to pay for a center stand you might consider one of these front stands that picks the front end up using the hole in thesteering stem. this will allow you to work on or even remove the fork. Never use the front stand without a rear stand though.
