Test ride after all my work, chain question

    Hey guys,

As some of you know that have been helping me I replaced both sprockets, cush rubber and chain on my Hawk...I just got back from my test drive and it is like a different bike, no "wah wah wah" noise from the chain and no bucking around when I let off the gas woohoo! Question is this:

My new DID 525V 112L chain when adjusted within specs on the adjustment gauge, causes the sprocket to be in the "replace" on the chain guard "new/replace" guide...Why is this and is this a problem? If I use the spanner to put it into the "new" area on the guide then there is too much slack according to my slack gauge...Only thing I can think of is that my chain may have had 113 as opposed to 112 links or something, but I highly doubt it, and no I haven't counted b/c I was hot/dirty/and tired so I just went for a test drive and thought I'd post the question...The chain is already rivited on so I don't want to break it and remove a link or anything...The sprockets are stock too, so I don't know why the "new/replace" guide shows it in the "replace" area...Thanks for any comments...

If everything is new I say let 'er be. Adjust the chain tension to a good level and don't worry about it.
Did you make any changes to the size of the sprockets? you could just do what I did and take the gauge off the swingarm. You know what to look for and listen for when the chain and sprockets are bad again.

My guess would be the chain is longer and/or you have less teeth than stock on one or both sprockets. Keep the chain adjusted correctly and don't worry about the location of the "replace" gauge.
