How do you put back on cable to throttle grips

I am switching out the stock grips for aftermarket grips. After much effort, finally got the throttle cable off but am finding it impossible to put the cable back into the grip.

I think I've applied slack enough with adujusting the cable nut etc, but am I missing something? I need help!

    Could anyone provide any help/advice?

    Thanks so much!

You'll prolly find it easier to release the other end from the carbys.

Lossen the handlebar, put the grip together off the bar then slide it on.

put the cables on the tube.. stick the tube and lower "clamp" together and slip it on the bar.

atleast thats how i do it.. i dont have a stock bike, so i donno if it'll reach on yours.

Ok, this girl is totally not getting the picture, so I have added some of my own Why do the simple things always end up more complicated for me?

The first picture below shows where I'm having troubles. I can't get the heads into their respective slots. I can put one in, but not the other in the housing on the grips. There doesn't seem to be enough slack ie too much tension so I can't pull and put the cable back in the slot. I have taken off the stock bars and grips and have replaced them with F2 clip-ons and Buell Traction grips.

In the 2nd picture, I'm assuming I need to turn the screws to give me more slack. The trouble is, reaching it and which way do I actually turn the screws? Do I have to take the tank off to make it easier? (This picture is taken from below, angling the camera upwards).

Thank you so much for your time and tips!

+1 what Al (Deftrap) said. I find it impossible to get enough slack in the system with the carb ends attached. Pull one of the cables from the carb end, fit the grip ends and get the grip assembled on the bar, then do the carb end.

As far as getting max slack, in your second picture you want both adjusters turned all the way in. That is, as far to the right as possible in the pic. You will have lots of thread showing where the bare cable exits, and no thread showing on the side with the cable housing.

              Does that help?

take the throttle tube out of the "bottom" of the clamp and have it ~90* from normal... this makes it "tipped up"

slide the barrels of both wires on... then when you slip it back into the clamp, its on...

then slide the whole thing on the end of the bar.
