    Radiators...Durbahn? JD?

Ok, I want a radiator for my hawk that is narrower than the frame rails. Also, I want it to look cool.

Also, that bike that has the bad ass looking one, I think it's made out of an Intercooler, anyone know anything about doing that?

It is hard to say what it is with out more pics. I use a 93 GSXR750 radiator on me bike and it works great. Here it is:

Very nice, it looks trick and I'm sure it works well. What did you have to do to make it work?

Weld on the U bracket on the top of the Suzuki strap and bracket for the one side. Also a remote filler cap off another bike.
          Pretty easy.

It is a racebike so we don't use them. I don't know if the stock gsxr fan would work but it might. I know that on a it works so well that on cold days at the track I have to put tape on it so the bike warms enough!

That rad in the OP piccy reminds me of a Kawa 636 rad.

Usually cheap too on Ebay (I nearly bought one to put to one side).

i posted this in another thread just woundering what everyone thinks?

if we ask a radiator shop to make a run of 10 custom rads they might give us a price brake, of course i have no clue how much they would cost. and a practical design would have to be figured out first.

just woundering if anyone would try this with me.

i have allways wanted a alluminum radiator that was tall and narrow to fit the frame rails better. hell i would go for two anyone else?

                    Rad Project

I'm in for two. (Ya need to have a back-up.)

...and this is why Hawk ownership is a money pit...

                    -P.
                    I need a bigger garage.

It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it.

While it'd look cool to have a rad that's small enough to be unobtrustive like Honda uses on the Shadows, the stock one is just about too small on a stock motor. There's really not a whole hell of a lot of space to make one like at least I'm picturing - especially if you'd be planning on running a fan- and it's not possible to make it much taller, again like the Shadows',due to the front header. While it could be made thicker, that's a visual tradeoff there as well.

when i made mine, i put a piece of corrugated cardboard over the fan, positioned the fan where it fit best, and welded the brackets for it to the new radiator.

then when i took the cardboard off, it fit with perfect clearance.

other then the (now rare) race hawk radiators, every other option ive seen requires some welding.

When you refer to the race hawk radiators I assume that you are refering to the ones Joel (JW Raceparts) was making which were pretty good. They were pretty thick and taller than stock but did not stick out past the frame rails so they were almost crash proof. (unlike inline 4 radiators that stick out so much that the tanks are almost always ruined in crashes. The downside to them was that they seemed to stress crack pretty easily even when rubber mounted. I know some of Doc's friends have them (saw them in the team pics and I know that JD has one (saw it on his bike in a pic over at his website) and I have one. I can provide pictures but have no image hosting.

I would be down for 2 custom radiators as well but don't be surprised if these things cost $600 each (just a guess).
