The ATF would work to some degree but there is the slim chance that it might damage the rubber o-ring seals on the fork leg top cap. Some rubber does not like some types of oil.

Now as to how it would perform in the Hawk fork that is a different story. When you buy ATF fluid I have never seen it sold in different weights or for that much listing the weight/viscosity of it on the bottle so yes it should work in your forks but as to the viscosity we do not know if it is equal to lets say a 10wt, 5wt or 30wt fork oil so we really have no way of determining how it will work before we try it.

In the early days of mountain bike forks we used ATF because that is what they told us would work and they designed the valving in the fork to work for that weight of oil but as to using it on your motorcycle again it would work but how good or bad we do not know.
