Hi all, need some help here, my oil light is staying on. I figured it was a defective switch. I ordered a new switch, installed it and figured I might as well change the oil at the same time. After the new switch was installed, the light was still on, I backed out the new switch and to my surprise, no oil came out. I pulled off the new oil filter to see if there was oil to the filter and there was none. And yes, I did fill it up with oil. Has anyone ever had a oil pump fail? blocked line? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I profess no experience or knowledge but the owners manual suggests
"No oil pressure
-level too low
- Broken oil pump drive or driven sprockets
-Broken oil pump drive chain -
-Faulty oil pump
* Oil leaks
or a faulty pressure relief valve.
I'd pull the oil pump and check it first... the alternative is spliting the case to check the oil pressure relief valve...mor work.
Just download the service manual. It's in a sticky at the top of this section of the forum. It's a wealth of knowledge.

Did you just do some clutch work? If so, the clutch basket may not be properly engaged on the oil pump drive sprocket. If not, pull off the clutch cover and have a look at the chain/sprockets of the pump. If those are intact, then chances are it sheared off a drive pin inside the pump, or the pressure relief valve fell apart.
