More front end help (f2/ f3)

I've look around alot and want to do an f2 or f3 front end. But I want to run the stock speedo. I found a f3 front end on ebay, but read that you cant us the stock speedo with it??? Also, what parts do I need. Do I use the hawk upper and lower triples..can I use the stock bars.. some type of short list would be nice.

    Thanks to anyone who helps

    Hi there Seth,

Use the search function as there have been plenty of threads on this routine swap out.

You can use the triples, stock bars, essentially you can get by doing the mod with the bare minimum of just having the wheel, axle, rotors, and calipers (and F2 speedo drive if you want that).

If I find a good deal on a inverted fork setup I might be selling my F2 front end soon if you are interested.

a search is a good idea but
        heres what i remeber

f2 you can run hawk speedo
f3 you cant run hawk speedo

unless you use the hawk lower fork tubes and all the f3 inturnals and upper tube

all three fork diameters are the same so
        bars
        triple clamp
        are innerchangable

JR posted this on a different thread well worth reading

Ok so if i want the dual front brakes and a stock speedo i have to use the f2 lowers, so that the mounts are there. Can I just use the whole f2 fork, legs and all? Or am I going to be taking a bunch of frontends apart? I'm not sure yet but say I like the f2 triples better for some reson, are they interchanable. And one last thing, this is kinda a noob question I think, but my brother use to have an'01 gsxr600 and when you took the key out the forks would lock sideways. I never looked into how it worked. Thought it be nice to do while I was already working on the front end. Might be WAY to complicated and not worth it at all.

          Thanks for the help

if you want stock speedo and dual brakes then your only option really is a f2 front end

yes the triple clamps are interchangeable

most people just use stock clamps. im not sure if there is even a difference.

steering lock does exist on your bike when the key is set to the off position push it in and keep turning. and a pin will come out of the ignition housing engaging a dovetail looking tab on the frame.

Wow.. So the hawk does have a steering lock..I didnt know because right now I have a toggle rather than a key. Are ignition swithces on the front ends universal or would i need a hawk one for sure?

Look for the 94' F2 forks, they are the same as the F3 forks (cartridge) and you can still run the Hawk speedo.

i think the ignition switches are

i just put my hawk switch on a 05 cbr1000rr with out a problem
not sure if the steering lock still works but the bolt pattern is the same
so your better off looking for a hawk and second a f2 f3 ignition switch
