water coupler piece between the cylinders..

hey, my coupler between the cylinders is dripping... i popped the clips off, (lost one... dammit) and tried to slide it back enough to get an o-ring off...

does it actually slide like that,or what? because it seems stuck. i would THINK that it slides over far enough to get one ring off.. then could slide back to do the otherone.. but i couldnt get it to move.

    lil help?...

lol, btw this is the first ive gotten to even touch the hawk in weeks.... i sit down infront of it for 5mins, and i cant get the coupler off.. and then im called away again... id like to be on here and on my hawk more.. hopefully soon...

assuming nothing happens in the next two hours, i should be home and working on my hawk again... W00t!!! now if i could only get this damn coupler loose... i could replace the Orings, and toss her back together.. im going into withdrawals here.. i miss my hawk. lol.

btw, totally off topic... anyone here into VFRs too? im thinking about getting a second bike...

The coupler does just slide back and forth. It is fairly soft aluminum. Mine has channel lock marks on it now . I think it goes far enough to get the o-ring off, but didn't try that so can't be sure. I am sure JD or someone will know.

I've got an '86 VFR 700 that I've been riding while my hawk is slowly being put back together and getting all the kinks worked out. Fun machine, but a little bigger than the hawk....

It will slide far enough back and forth that you can change the o-rings. Put some grease on them before you re-assemble. One thing you CANNOT do is install the coupler with the cylinders in place. Ask me how I know.

Isn't that what a roll of electrical tape and the hose clamp are for?

Mr. Dude, I read a review (can't remember where) and the 98 vfr 800 is one of the better years to look for. First year for the 800 and should be able to find one for around 5k.
