    Choke Problems

I am having a problem with my choke. The bike was sitting for many years before I got it, now the choke will not move. I have taken the carbs apart to try and free it but I can't really get to them, so alittle WD-40 and letting them sit for a while should have loosened them up some right? well that's not the case. I pulled on the cable to try and get it out and it came out....completely, spring flew somewhere and now I'm stuck. Anyone know how to fix it? If I buy a new cable assembly, it wont come with springs or anything else. this one is on ebay (item number 7977496389). the ends are the same as what I have on mine. So how do I get the of the choke out? What do I do?[/img]

Ok you have to pull the tank to start with. You need clear and easy access to the carbs. Your problem is likely not with the enrichener it's self (these bikes do not have a choke) but with the cable. Go ahead and get a replacement cable now. After you get access you the carburetors you'll be able to see where the chock slide assemblies are (if not I'm sure someone here will post pics with it circled for you). The spring is to lock the enrichener closed, the cable is to open it. Springs are easy to replace...any variety that will fit between the choke slide's loop and the mount point will work.

I wish I had pics or something to show you as I know I'm likely not being very helpful...but if you get down under the tank and look at things your should be able to see how it all works.

Well I had the carbs completely off the engine, I can see where the cables go in and I already figured out how the spring keeps the "choke" closed, but when I pull the cable...nothing happens, nothing moves, so I think over the years the valve either rusted shut or stuck shut somehow. I need to know how to free it so I can replace it. The cable itself is fine and works the way it should. Any Ideas on how I can get the valve out without hurting anything?

try moving the enrichener by hand...not with the cable. The cable is likely frozen. It's very odd that the mechanism it's self would be locked up.

The black part is the nut that holds the cable in place. That is off, the cable is out, and the spring is out. The cable didn't break off....it pulled out, no valve on it. I tried to pull the valve out with needle nose pliers but it would not budge. I will try to take some pics of it tomorrow so you can see what I am talking about.

ok....here is what it looks like before I take it apart.

So is there something else that I am missing to get this out or is it possible that it is just stuck. If it is stuck then I would have to try and drill it out and extract it. Is there someplace I can buy just the valve? because I am sure I will have to destroy it to get it out.

I can get it to start without it but I am not sure if I will run the risk of hurting something if I can't open or close it. Thanks for info or ideas

If I remember correctly then cable is attached to a needle that you see in the 2nd picture (the black thing). When I put in my stage 3 they just unscrewed and I could see all the way in where they were inserted.
