    Fuel petcock

I have rescued the Hawk I gave to my son a number of years ago and am getting it back to roadworthy. One small problem, leaky petcock. I went to the local salvage yard and looked the boxes of fuel valves and none had the proper threads. Apparently this particular valve is 'fine' thread and most of the world is a 'coarse' thread. There has to be another Honda that uses this petcock? is there another model I can search for?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    The petcock can be rebuilt.

+1 I would rebuild it. (and have) Take it to an industrial bearing supply place, they can find an o-ring to replace the one inside.
-I'm sorry....I did not know she was your sister.
-If Buckleys cold mixture went rancid......how would anybody know????
-Dont piss off the quiet guy with the chain saw.

The one I currently use only leaks when in the ON position, but not in RES position. So, I just leave it on RES and gas up every 100 miles.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the rebuild. but still, if I can get another petcock I will. Can't hurt to have 2?
Rick, I would use your method (res all the time and pay attention to mileage) however, my adult A.D.D kicks in all too often and I'm sure I would find myself pushing the little HAwk 2 miles uphill to the nearest gas station.

Mr. pneilsen500 - Honda still has petcocks in stock ... About $40 ... Your dealer should be able to get you one in a couple days. FYI, the assembly comes with the fuel screen that goes inside the tank ... so, flush-out the tank of any sediment first.

+1 got a new OEM whole petcock there ! call or emai JD www.hordpower.com

Also hunted down the rubber valve seal ( looks like a rubber disk with 3 holes in it)

Turned out to be from an older CB750 ? Can't remember but from the rebuilt threads part number ( now discontinued ? ) I got a parts guy at Bike Bandit to cross reference it ( took a bit of sleuthing)

Anyway... It's around here somewhere... I just went new because of some rust and corrosion on my old one

On a related note - the gas tank I just bought had an old petcock on it already but when removing it,the long tube disintegrated. Is that just for the reserve fuel? Can it be used without the middle tube?
