    Dirty Needle Jets

Here are my Needle Jet "holders" as the parts fiche calls them. These are the ones the main jets screw into. I am new to carbs, so I am not sure how bad these are and wanted to see what you guys think. The left one is black/green and the right is much better. Not sure what got them this way. They have been cleaned it 2 different carb cleaners and this is as clean as they got. Some of the holes are clogged and if I run a paper towel inside them some nice dark green crap comes out.

I tried to order some new ones from Hord, but Honda discontinued them. doh. So what would you guys recommend? run some fine wire to clear the holes out, clean the inside as best as I can and let em rip? Or should I see if someone has some spare used ones.

    thanks

Your local motorcycle-repair-shop normaly got a "ultrasonic-bath" (it's the direct translation - so maybe something like this). It's fine to clean carbs and stuff like this. You can also ask someone who repairs watches/clocks or googles/glasses. The also have ultrasonic cleaning bath.

      bye, M.

            Hey fabi

I guessed right kip just used that liquid stuff running thru.
After ultraconic cleaning there should no crap come out and no holes are clogged.

The green crap is corrosion.... they should clean up and if there are no nasty pits or holes you should be all set after hord works em over

poke through the holes with a thin wire or pin to dislodge encrusted crap.
the "jet holders" are more properly referred to as emulsion tubes.

So you see how well I did with cleaning these at the top of the post. Here is a crappy pic of how they look after Hord got done with them. The 3rd needle jet is brand new from a factory pro kit. I wish I was a better photographer. It is ridiculous how clean and new they look. Another example of Hord bailing me out. Bet the carbs are going to work a little better now . Thanks a million JD.
