    Overbore sizes (700+?)

ok, so i'm curious, i've heard if we go bigger than 700cc's bad things happen. what is the limit for overbore on a race-hawk? can you go bigger than 700 and still run it reliably? (reliably = complete teardown once a season, 8 race weekends).

i'd guess this is really a question for JD, but if anyone else knows chime in

(sorry, not looking for speculation unless you've been in big hawk motors a _lot_)

this might be important as well: figure 2 races/weekend and 4 15min practice sessions. there might be the odd trackday thrown in but that's rare.

looks like about 12hrs of time if i did the calculation correctly (wow... i just realized how expensive this sport is!)

I sooooo saw this coming I READ IT!!

For the record. I had a Ducati BEFORE I had a Hawk. I STILL have a Hawk.
I have NOT been in the motor. Yours WILL blow up if you go bigger (since you keep telling me mine will)

Why do you need BIGGER anyway? Afraid of the big Bad DUC. muhuhaha!

There's no "easy" way to go more than 700cc on a Hawk. You can, but it takes custom pistons, sleeving the cylinders, boring cases, etc. The 840cc thing is 750cc Africa Twin based.

and isnt that still hampered by the same "break the crank at high power" problem the stock hawk bottom ends have?

i mean, yea, you'll have more torque getting there, but if it still breaks the crank...

Yup. That's what I always argue with people about. They want 750 kits and this and that, but if we can create crank-busting power with 700cc or hell even 663cc's, then what is the point? More torque? That's even harder on the crank.

thats why i keep looking at diffrent bike motors.
                              i want a vtwin.
i want to keep the hawk chassis.

i dont mind welding and such... but i want the RIGHT motor for it.

so far, im not having much luck finding what im looking for...
