How to tell the year of a CBR F2 Fork?

    Subject explains it all.

What would be the easiest way (hopefully by not taking it apart) to tell what year the fork is?

There are a set of numbers on the interior fork legs if that might shed some light on the year made please do let me know.

i remember you asking me what year my forks where when i was selling them.

im curious why are you so set on knowing the exact year of the fork?

i mean just has long as the adjustments are there on the top it really doesnt matter what year they are.

now a f3 MIGHT have different fender mounts, and the brake calipers MIGHT be in a different location compared to an f2. just has long has you know if its an f2, f3 or f4 you should be able to figure out the rest.

Well from my limited knowledge of CBR F2 forks the 94' models were cartridge forks which are more desireable due to better adjustabliity (through tuning) and linear rates.

Pre 94 F2 forks were damper rod forks (less desireable) limited adjustabliity
      and progressive rates

Basically I want to find out what year of F2 forks that I currently have on my bike and to be able to discern (in the future) the difference between a CBR F2 damper rod fork and a cartridge fork.

As far as I can tell the all of the F2s had preload adjustments on the fork caps but the fork internals (see above) are not all the same.

1992/93 CBR600F2 Forks only have Pre-Load adjuster caps or only one type of external adjsutemt. '94 F2 forks are rebound adjustable cartridge forks and have a pre-load and rebound adjuster on each top cap. The image below is of a set of CBR600F2 forks on my RZ350. So if you fork caps only have one adjsutemnet then they are early f2 forks and if they have two adjustments on each top cap then they are the 94 F2 forks.

If the top of your forks look like these then they are 94F2 or F3 type forks. Notice the gold rebound adjuster screw in the middle of the cap.
