    Factory or DynoJet needles?

I was wondering, since Hord is recommending the FActory 3.0 jet kit, that this would be THE kit for the Hawk.

BUT, my local tuning shop recommended the use of a DynoJet jet kit, that would be better than the FActory kit.

Now, who's right, and who's got it wrong? Anyone here tried both jet kits maybe?

im willing to bet your local shop sells dynojet kits and not factory stuff so they are just trying to sell you what they have.

i dont think i have herd anyone ever say they have a dynojet kit its always factory jets

now dyno might make a kit for the hawk and you would be fine using it but its not has common as factory kits.

could be, but the shop isn't a specific Dynojet dealer, they just run the stuff that works the best, but one of the owners is a bit stubborn, he always thinks he's got it right

I`ll make you a deal Luuk. I`ve already ordered Dyno needles. if you wait with ordering untill those are fitted you can see for yourself. once again, I`ll sacrifice myself on your behalf.

The mechanic said that Factory needles are cheaper. (no doubt) but that they are take more runs to get a proper setting. because they would be less accurate. is this true, or has my crank been yanked, so to speak?

and if indeed Factory needles are better, I`ll jus have to kill the mechanic slowly and painfully.
What was the start of all this?
When did the cogs of my Hawk begin to turn?
Perhaps it is impossible to grasp the answer now,
from deep within the flow of time...

But, for a certainty, back then,
I loved it so much, yet hated so many.
I hurt others and was hurt myself...

Yet even then, I rode like the wind,
        whilst my laughter echoed
        under cerulean skies...

Um, I would defer to J.D.
I'll bet two bucks that J.D. has a bit more time invested in making Hawks run smooth and fast than your local shop...

that is for sure! that was the main reason I was dis agreeing with my local mechanic, but I didn't explain to him WHY I disagreed

It isn't like my word is gospel. I just personally prefer the Factory kits. They are easier to set up, and I like the fact that the jet sizing is comparable to Keihin jets and not some goofy non-comparable system like what DJ uses. I have had success setting up DJ kits. But IMO they take a bit more fiddling. Just my two cents and nothing more... ask 10 people and you will get 10 different answers.

I have a Dynojet kit (stage 2). IMO, it did what I wanted it to do, without much hassle. It produced a noticeable increase in power with the stock exhaust, which then only improved when I got an aftermarket system. The engine now pulls cleanly throughout the entire range, once fully warmed up.

However, I feel I could be getting more out of it now that I've dropped the stock can, and I'm maxxed out as far as main jet size is concerned (144). The next stage available from DJ is "stage 7 for race use only..." What happened to 3-6??? curious...

Funny you say that. because the mechanic in question said exactly the opposite. he said Factory kits need fiddling, and that Dyno is easier to set up. :P

                  I`ll just see what happens. it`s not there`ll be a 5 nm/bhp difference between the 2.

I usually trust the opinion of a man that has a thousand times more experience with things than me same with my boss, who's a 23 year experienced CNC machinist, he's wright 99 times out of a 100.

1 time out of the 100 I get in a lucky shot

well, I`m "screwed" either way since he already ordered Dyno stuff.

besides, if he`s better accustomed to setting up Dyno stuff he may just be right for once
