Didn't someone a month ago have fuel coming out of the float vent tubes?"Life may begin at 40, but it doesn't get real interesting until about 150."

Well, it was me that was having the problem with the leak, and ya, I did fix it. Problem was that the PO went through and removed the CA emissions systems, but plugged the float bowl vents... I just unplugged them and it worked like a charm. Felt dumb that it was just something that small though....

look at the fuel floats, but more importantly look at the seat and the seal.. if its worn... replace it.

Well ive had the carbs apart, cleaned, etc. Plus the kicker is that the bike only has 92 original miles on it......i know. But the problem that arises is that there could be other weird stuff as far as rubber seals and such that couldve dried out or froze up over the past 16 years...i got the drip to stop now but the throttle isnt real responsive.. the motor even when warm kinda hesitates and sometimes dies if i give it gas. It must be an air/fuel problem huh?

Not sure where I saw this but helped me out when I was trouble shooting my bike...
If the engine drops below idle when you give it a little gas and then comes back up to idle speed, you've got a rich problem.
If the engine revs up past idle, but then hangs there for a second or two before coming back down to idle, you've got a lean problem.
Remember that the only things affecting your bike at idle - 1/8 throttle are float height, pilot screws, and slow jets.
Hope this helps out and you can get things running soon!

haha.^^ Well i dont have a float height gauge but i did a little adjusting with a metric ruler...got em to where i think they should be according to the manual, and took her out today. My first run up the street i hit 3rd gear at about 45 and came to a stop...with a huge cloud of white smoke following me...after that though i ran it for about 2 hours and it was perfect. Idle and everything was like a dream. Im starting to think that it just needed a little freeing up after so many years, and to burn some shit out of the exhaust...maybe some small animals? Anyway, the real test will be early tomorrow morning when i start her up dead cold again..1989 Hawk Gt
