Why remove the center stand when you replace the exhaust?

I have a 1989 Bros 650 (just purchased). It has no center stand and an after market exhaust. I wuld like the convenience of a main stand but don't know if I sourced one if I could use it. Can anybody help me to figure this out?

It seems that Honda had a great way of stopping the centre stand when its in its upright position by using that big box from the original exhaust. So when you removed the exhaust the stand goes up and hit other stuff manly the chain or frame.
There seem to be no product out that to solve this but you can make something. Have a search through the forum their was something about this before I think by myself.

    Never mind found it

      Great information thanks

Hi there. Excellent information thanks very much. I'll go and source a stand now. Will attempt to make my own stopper

I took my centerstand off so I wouldn't grind it in the curves. Damn thing always got in the way. Took like 2 mins to take off. Looks cleaner too. Only takes a minute to put back on if needed. An dI'm sure someone on here has one they'd give up.

another reason why it was taken off

some exhausts run under the bike instead of off to the side like stock pipes. if you have a full aftermarket system like a two brothers you cant have both. i think the m4 pipes are the same story but im not sure.
