    H E L P H E L P H E L P H E L P

As some of you may know I just bought a used Bros 400 just for parts . I started to strip it yesterady and tonight with a friend of mine tried to disconnect the swing arm for the frame . I managed to get the long axle out and thought that was enough . Of course the chain got in the way . I don't have the equipment to cut the chain so I decided to remove the rear sprocket and leave the chain on the front sprocket . Then I began to pull the swing arm away from the frame , with no luck at all . As if something got in the way . I had a better look and noticed that that there is short of a " tunnel " on the engine outside surface used for the axle to go from one side to the other . This long hole seems to be going in the swingarm for 2-3 cm and gets in the way of the swingarm . Am I doing something wrong ???? I got to have the bike in two piece tomorow . There is no other way to pul it in the elevator and lift to the second flor where I live ....

Any ideas ??? And something more where does the stock exhaust can bolts ??? Couldn't see that either ...

    Thanks

    Hey nt400

Did you remove bolt 10 shown at this chart:

You should remove swingarm easy then.

    bye, Marcus

I was gonna say the same thing.

It is a threaded spacer that makes the motor line up with the swingarm

You might need that 4 slotted nut socket too.

Bolt 10 can't tell for sure . But that strange ring , no24 is still on , and was wondering how to get it out . If bolt 10 is behind it then I might just be getting somewhere ....

        Thanks for the tip

EDIT : Just noticed Doc's reply . I think I'm gonna spend more money on tools than I'm gonna make selling stuff ... I only hope they sell this kind of nut single and have to buy the whole set ....

If you have the wrench to remove the lock ring that holds the adjuster as Doc suggest then great. If you do not then just put the swingarm spindle back in and use a metric "allen" wrench to turn it out. It will remove the adjustable spacer with the lock ring still attached. Or, you can turn the spacer out by catching the flats on the inside with a large "allen" wrench or you can make one by jambing two nuts together on the correct size bolt and use them to turn the spacer back out.

I have removed many swingarms and many engines and I do not have the special Honda lock ring wrench.

What do you NEED that little socket for then?

                    Reassembly.

You would need the socket to lock the lock ring in place during reassembly. After adjusting the spacer the lock ring is tightened to insure that it does not migrate.

What was the start of all this?
When did the cogs of my Hawk begin to turn?
Perhaps it is impossible to grasp the answer now,
from deep within the flow of time...

But, for a certainty, back then,
I loved it so much, yet hated so many.
I hurt others and was hurt myself...

Yet even then, I rode like the wind,
                            whilst my laughter echoed
                            under cerulean skies...
