Stupid question from a new Bros owner

Hi

Just bought a Mk 1 650 and have a stupid question... How on earth do you get the seat off? ops:

there is a seat lock below the seat in the right rear.
put the key in and turn to the right. Now there is a piece of chrome
at the bottom of this mechanism, pull it straight down while lifting the
rear of the seat up.

I broke my seat cowl trying to get the seat off, whacking it over and over with the heel of my hand because I thought it was "stuck." ops: I figured it must only slide into a slot-and-tab sort of thing, and never dreamed there was a seat-lock. This was back when I first bought the bike; I had no manual, no friends that knew bikes, hadn't found the listserv yet, and was way too impatient to wait and bring it to a mechanic!

yeah, I just about broke mine as well trying to figure it out the first time, that lock says helemt holder, not seat lock!!!

I took a grinder and cut mine off, on both subframes I have had. Now I have that little cable I just tug on whenever i want to take my seat off...

Three years studying engineering and a decade working on aircraft and I still couldn't fathom it out... Got the seat off now - Thanks - I now know I have a NT 650 J
