    DID chain

I picked up a DID 525 chain with sprockets from Hord and was wondering where I can pick up a good chain breaker/rivet tool kit.

    Thanks,

    Derek

Why didn't you order it from Hord as well ??? He seems to have good prices , but I don't know if he sells tools as well .

I got the new chain and sprockets from Hord but didn't realize I'd need a special tool to rivet the clip to the chain.

Prior to removal of the front sprocket, I noticed some excessive play in it. Both sprockets look to be in OK shape but the chain was toast with o-rings literally torn & falling out it.

I'll email Hord and see if he offers a quality kit for the chain.

Nevermind, JD stated that the new sprockets should take care of the excessive play.

The new front sprocket has ZERO play, thanks for the help, JD!

Don't know if you are still looking for one, but what I did, was ordered the sprockets/cush rubbers/etc. etc. from JD, but then on the chain I went to my local Honda dealer, only reason was just b/c of this, they let me borrow their DID chain tool (about 100.00 I think) so I didn't have to buy one. Since you already got the chain from Hord, just go and buy something small and then say "hey, I just bought a chain a few days ago, you wouldn't happen to have a breaker/installer tool I could borrow for a couple hours do you?" They would be hard pressed to say no if they are a decent bunch of guys, especially b/c you are buying something, just my .02

I've already spent over $100 there in the past two weeks so I might just be able to ask anyway - and forgot to call this afternoon. Thanks for the reminder, dude!

Well since you are probably going to be owning bikes for awhile... the hawk ... you can pick one up on ebay for around $50-70 for the breaker, and riveting tool. I have one of these and replaced 2 chains with them. I did end up breaking the pin on it though (luckily they give you two), with my amateur mechanic skills Or if you know a few motorcyclists, you guys can always split one
You know your a hawkaddict when you check ebay and craigslist every hour for parts to upgrade
