preload and rebound adjustments How To and cost?

    Hey all,

Considering very seriously the f3 conversion, checking prices tomorrow at my local motorcycle salvage yard, 2 questions:

    1. On the f3 forks with the slotted preload adn rebound adjustment tabs in the top of the forks, how exactly do you get this just right? I have had many bikes with this adjustment but never touched them, I guess b/c I was never sure "how" to do it.

    2. What should I pay for a good used set of f3 forks?

    Thanks,!

I'd think anything over $250 for just the forks, sliders, steering stem head, axle w/ spacers, and both triples would be too much. Wheel with rotors, maybe $100 or so - a good F2 wheel can be had for around $50-$60. If you have more than $400 in it, you'll be paying too much and you may as well buy the 929 setup available on this site (shameless plug).

What about just the forks???? Nothing else, I have decided I am going to do the mod in the "mechanical forum" and just swap the internals and uppers so I can get better suspension but retain all my original stuff on the wheel...So I need to know just a good set of used f3 forks would run???...I see that there is a set for sale including shipping for 250 BIN on ebay, is that too much??? Please let me know.

The BIN is decent for those F3 forks, but you could also make him an offer.

            Hey guys,

I did make him an offer and he accepted, 90 bucks!!!

That was a good price right? Now I can start my install when they get here, although I should replace certain parts with new ones right? I know of the oil/dust seals, but is there anything else?

edit: I am just going to make this a new post as it is removed from my original title.
