Got the F3 forks broke down, need some help (pics)

Hey guys, ok, so got the F3's broke down, oil was nice and clean so I think the 8000 miles on the forks was spot on, anyway got everything apart and I have a question about the bushings, take a look at this pic:

My question is about the bushings, the bigger gray (teflan) one and the copper smaller one...Since this is my first time I thought these would be real tight on there, but they are nice and loose, there is a keft slit up both of them...I could pull the copper one right off it moves so easy, in fact as I was pulling the washer and oil seal up and off the tube I accidently let the washer go and it fell back down the tube and hit the copper washer that is when I noticed that it moved the copper washer over the end of the teflan bushing, so I just grabbed the copper one with my hand and pushed it right over the teflan bushing, see pic below:

So I am assuming this is normal right???? The bushings are just on there loose like this? The teflan one spins but will not come "up" the tube so I am not sure how to get it off, but the copper one will come easy, and as shown in the pic there is enough play I assume with the kerf joint I could even push it "over" the teflan, let me know as I am in very unfamiliar territory...

    Thanks,

    Jason

its important not to scratch off the teflon

take the teflon one out first put a flat head screw driver in the kerf and twist to make it big enough to slide off then the other one will come off too.

but really you dont need to take that stuff off just leave it and put your hawk lower tubes on.

also in the future stand back with the camera and use the zoom. you will get much better close up pics that way.

Or wait for your camera to adjust before taking the photo, espcially if the flash is active.

no matter how long you wait the optics in the camera cant focus when your 12 inchs from the parts.

Depends on the camera but within a foot is very doable. I can take photos that close and a tad closer with my Minolta Dimage Z10 and Kodak Z612 - the iffy part is with the flash, thus I mentioned it, because it can white critical data, i.e, printed labels/ID plates.

I average 1000+ photos a week at work, so I've figured out how to get good close-ups.

            OK, sorry, back on-topic.

Ok, so here is where I am at so far:

Got to go pick up supplies to finish the job tomorrow. Hey I wanted to ask you guys that know, the F3 forks that I got while they only have 8K miles on them compared to my 30K+ on my hawk, the upper tubes seem more dinged up The seals and everything looked great when they arrived and there was no sign of leakage at all, the fluid inside sounded good (could hear it flowing as you turned the fork upside down and the rightside up) compared to my Hawk's that I can't even hear fluid, so I think there is 0 in them Anyway, just wondering how nicked up tubes have to be to cause a problem????? Most of the nicks I see look like rock chips, I know I'm just being paranoid but thought I'd ask...I think I may run them over to the dealer tomorrow and ask a mechanic to take a look and make sure they are ok, but since they weren't leaking when I got them shouldn't they still be ok????? Would it be worth getting brand new tubes???? Anyone know what they would cost and if you could even get just the upper tubes???? Thanks guys!!! And you experts please check in frequently over the next day or so while I button this up if you can, as you guys are my help lifeline on this job!!!
