    Stock wheels question

What are the stock wheels made of? I am in the process of polishing them and just realized that if they are steel, they will rust after awhile. They seem pretty heavy to be aluminum. So will they rust or are they aluminum? This is my progress so far:

Here is the look I am going for....from the MV Agusta Senna:

they are aluminum (aluminium if you are in the UK).

saw 5 senna editions today. sweet looking bike.

btw if you are polishing just the lips of the rims leave them on the bike and rotate them on the bike. usually easier.

I did....I put the bike on the center stand, turned the idle speed to about 2,000 rpms, put it in 5th gear and sanded away. It took about 20 mins each side, the key is to use wet sand paper all the way from 120 to 2000 grit. And put a fan in front of the bike to keep it cool.

The front is going to be a bit more difficult, I am making a stand with rollers and an electric motor to turn the front wheel while polishing.

I took the rear off to paint it, I am going flat black for now, later when I do a nice paint job on the bike I will pick something nice for the wheels.
