  • Pod filters... which ones do I want?

Newbie here so I have a few Pod filter questions. I did a search and didn't really find any info... so

I see that you can get 2 different types/brands of pod filters for the hawk. Uni-foams
    K&N

I personally have used K&N in just about every car I have ever owned and really like the product. I have seen the Uni foams in many aftermarket kits for cars and know they too make a good product.

    Whats the norm?
Where do you get the K&N's fitted for the hawk or whats the universal pod size I need to order.

Will I get any adverse effects by just adding the filters other than a louder grunt? I don't plan on jetting the bike till winter.

    Thanks

I use the Uni pods on mine cuz they are cheap and I've read they breath better. You will need to rejet when u modify the airbox however.

OK so I need to re-jet to get the pods.

Can I do the homemade re-jet job or do I need to go and get an official kit?

Also can I do all of this with out doing the exhaust? or does it need to be done too?

all of the dyno testing on the hawks confirms that the uni pods do indeed flow better that the K&N's.

there are two different Uni filters for the hawk. both are a part number that's like 4229 or something. one is a single stage filter, the other (a bit more $$) is a dual stage filter (two types of foam).

you'll have to rejet for sure. YOu'll always get best results if you do the airbox and a full exhaust system. if you do both then get the Factory (that's the brand, not Honda) 3.0 jet kit (remove air box and new exhaust). if you just do the airbox removal then I think the factory 1.0 jet kit is what you want...

              +1 - good call bfizzle

This is a great kit (and excellent vendor! ). It wasn't available when I did mine.
