    radiator interchangeability...

I just picked up a 90 Gt yesterday... the bike is a little rough and needs some things...

The radiator is curved....and uhhh...the hawk radiators are supposed to be straight ...it's flat across the fins..just looks like someone unevenly pulled the ends down. So I'm betting it's not going to be very functional.

Has anyone successfully adapted a radiator off another model and or make/ model bike?

    Any help/suggestions appreciated....

      Thanks..

I'll check those out... Any particular year Gsxr better? I've been looking at f2/f3 radiators online too... Just need some measurements...

Hard to tell til I have one side by side with the original....

      Thanks.

I was just looking at my FZR 600 would be project bike (Got stung on the title-helped bail a friend out -title never materialized.....No good deed goes unpunished..).

Anyway I measured the radiator and it's 16X8 and a little thicker ( no big deal)... The outlet on the clutch side seems to be in a good place...the inlet on the top on the other hand is on the wrong side....

So I can go ugly and just route the hose weird or I could have the inlet moved to the other side by a radiator shop....

It's going to stick out an inch more on each side. Unless said radiator shop can narrow it...then for that matter I could just get them to rebuild the original....

        I'm also looking at a zx6 radiator and a zx7 online... ..

        Anyway- felt like sharing...

Might have to mock the FZR radiator up and see how it looks...

Magna V45 radiators go on very nicely. I've been running one on my Hawk w/o a fan for 2 years and no problems. Similar dimensions to a stock unit but much thicker. Also for one of the inlet/outlets that's different than the stock radiator there is an older caravan hose that fits perfectly.

Forgot about the magnas... I checked a few other cruiser types and that Model slipped my mind...

            The 88 model looks close...

            Thanks-

I know this is an old thread but can anyone confirm the Caravan hose? What year Caravan and what hose, I am having a bit of trouble finding an adequate hose or reducing elbow for the lower spigot.

Hi Doc, could you please explain. The Magna rad I have has a straight spigot on the bottom that is 3/4" diameter, the stock Hawk rad is 1" diameter and curved down 90 deg. Could you post a pic.

Thank Doc, I was at my local NAPA store but we didn't have any luck finding anything.
