    cut-down Muzzy pipe

This is a photo of the Hawk with the scuzzy Muzzy collector pipe I cut down ("slash-cut" like chopper pipes, at an angle) and popped onto the Hawk. The nice guys at the neighborhood muffler shop welded a tab onto it that bolts to that 3rd hole on the rearset and keeps it from falling into the road (again). Absolutely loud as hell.

Sorry about the quality, it's a camera phone. I can't get the scanner to work (which is why I haven't posted the good photos I promised yet)

I was screwing around the other day with my wife's hawk and fired it up with no canister on it. All I could think of was how loud your bike must be. I'd have a lynch mob after me (anytime other than this week) with a bike that obnoxious, but I'll bet it sure makes people take notice.

Sorry about the shadows, I'm not the greatest photographer.

cool, is there anything inside that pipe to give back pressure? a baffle or something? did you have to rejet the carbs, if so, with which kit? I took my canister off and rode it for a while, even though I love the sound and how loud that is, I think I lost a bit of power, I have stock airbox and stock jetting.

There's nothing inside - yet. I do want to have a baffle welded in there though.

I was told it had a jet kit when I bought it in 2004 (I'm the 3rd owner) but the seller didn't know what kind (3rd party seller); there was a different homemade header and can (which didn't have internals either), and the airbox was cut up so much it barely had sides. A mechanic told me I was running lean, so I bought an intact stock airbox and that made it better. That's when I put on this thing.... yes, I've noticed a slight loss of power. Not so much that I really care, though.
