    Custom made fiberglass seatpan.

Has anyone on here built themselves a custom fiberglass (or other) seatpan. I'm in the long slow and sometimes painful process of making her look different and am not that happy with my seat choice at the moment.

I'd like to build my own but was maybe looking for a little inspiration.

I think you could make a piece that looks great! I've seen the stuff you've done already from the Hawkgt.com website, you have an eye for design. what about sheet metal?

I wanted to keep the look of the original Hawk and it was this link that
convinced me of the look I wanted to get. (contender for HOTM)

but that seat was made by an ex racer Kevin Greer who doesn't make them anymore. Therefore it was either a Sharkskinz or a Hiperperform.

      Then I found this:-

And this is what it will look like on the bike:-

            Thanks Guys

I am looking to make my own custom seat pan though as I am shooting for a very unique look. I've allready started with the monster seat conversion but Am not 100% pleased with the way the monster seat is looking, and riding. I am after something that basically just comes up off the subframe.

            I did find this

as a kind of step by step of making a pan. Then I can take it down to my local upholstery shop. Just wondering if anyone else on here has tried it.

My only concern is how trong this this will be.

            Thanks

I've never done glass before, but can't you lay pieces of flat aluminum inbetween layers of glass to add strength? Fiberglass running boards on trucks have wood layed in the glass where the steps are, just do the same thing with flat aluminum, maybe even pre-drill holes for mounting purposes. Anyone know more about this?

                here's mine.

Fibreglass over foam. The guy I bought the bike from made it up. I ended up drilling holes for bushings and bolting it directly to the subframe.
