    Torque value for coolant drain bolt?

    One other person asked this years ago with no answer. It's aggravating it's not in the manual. 10mm flange is 29 ft/lb but that seems WAY WAY WAY too much. Is there a sealing washer here? Something like 7lb/ft sounds about right?
    Hawk with many differently shaped fuel tanks.

    Agree, 29 lb/ft sounds way too much - 7 lb/ft (10 Nm) sounds a lot better. But that bolt I have only ever handtightened, so don't know specific torque value...

      I would not even attempt to measure the torque applied to that bolt unless the wrench maxed out at 120 inch•lbs.

      There is a goldwing/general honda manual floating around that has a torque table based on diameter, thread pitch, material of the fastener and material it's threading into.

      Better to have it loose and weep than tight and leak.

        Just checked the NT700V manual and it states in general 7 lb/ft (10 Nm) for 6mm bolts and specifically 9 lb/ft (13 Nm) for the water pump cover bolts (including drain bolt with sealing washer):

          #7) 6 x 25 = 7.2 ft lb was my 1st deduction.

          But a flanged 6mm is ( 9 ft lb )
