My buddy has a pair but I've got my eye out for my own set if some cheap ones float along. Safety wire pliers and the zip-tie third hand definately rank among the top 10 coolest hand tools, whats number one you may ask? The nt650 powered sawzall!
For dicking around in the garage at home cheap safety wire pliers are fine but if you start racing you will quickly see the value in a good pair (I like Millbars). When you have to do a lot of wiring and do it quickly the cheap pliers can get frustrating. As another tip try the kind that do not have the spring loaded return they actually work faster once you get used to them. Worth the $80.
Faster than your mother... She's what the pros use.
