    Rear brake pad pin

Has anyone every had a problem getting this loose? Mine is like freaking frozen in the caliber! and he pads r gone! the backing is all that I have left on the brakes.

I guess I see why the previous owner did not change the rear pads.

Any ideas... the flat head screw is really mangled up....

If its that badly mangled then I'd suggest trying to get a pair of pliers or moles onto the pin itself and turning it.
Worst case would be to get the caliper off the bike then cut the pin but leave enough length so you can get something onto it and turn it free..

Hmm didn't think about turning the lower part of the pin. I can still get a flathead to bite a little. The head is freaking rusted on or something.

        Rob,

What does the head of the stuck bolt look like? If it's a flat head, then that is just the little plug that covers over the bolt. (At least, that's the factory setup that I have on my 89.)

Then under that little plug is an Allen-head bolt.

You've got to get that plug out before you can remove the brake pad pin/bolt. I'd suggest a little strategically-placed liquid wrench & let it sit for a while, then try it again. You're going to have to use a flat-head screwdriver to get it off.

ya the f2 calipers are the same with a plug then the bolt head i almost did the same thing you did on one good luck

That and its a flat head. I have applied and let sit. Still won't budge... so I spray it some more last night...

So thats just the "plug" and then the pin is a allen head bolt under it.

Well that plug is being a real ass right now... LOL

Old thread but I'm running into the same problem. The flathead pad pin plugs on my front F2 calipers are getting mangled trying to come off. I'm gonna try spraying marvel mystery oil on them and finding the biggest T-handle screwdriver I could buy tomorrow.

Unless of course anyone in SF here might be able to let me borrow an impact driver...
