  • Compatible parts for gear change & front brake caliper?

    Hiya folks
Slowly rebuilding my NT400 after a theft & recovery, and wondering if anyone can give me some recommendations on compatible parts for the gear change and front brake caliper.

I found an aftermarket CB250F Hornet gear change pedal and linkage that looks identical. It's happily within budget but uncertain if it is a complete match. Has anyone tried one of these?

Front brake caliper was already a little seized when I was riding it before the bike was stolen, but certainly worse now. Any reccomendations on a replacement that'll fit without having to modify anything?

I am talking to a fella who's breaking a 400 for parts, but haven't got prices from him yet for these. Not fussy about finding genuine bits and happy to shop around if it'll save my wallet. As long as they fit and I can get her running safely again, that'll do me

I know there have been other threads regarding different rearsets, pedals, etc., but I thought I would post up my latest idea for your enjoyment or for you all to make fun of. ;) As it's next to impossible to find the pedals for the Hawk, aside from those that have stashed some OEMs pedals away for a rainy day, I started to

Another thing I found that works is using a YZF750 pivot bolt and pedal with a CBR300 shift arm(probably my favorite setup so far).

Honda used the "parts bin" approach to design, so similar parts pop up on later models. The other day I saw a 2010 NTV700 (Deauville) and the shift lever looks identical to the Hawk. If so, there might be some NOS pieces out there.

Are you in the UK? If so there is a firm who offers a rebuild service for front brake calipers including new pistons & seals.

Wemoto probably has what you're looking for. At least the parts. Rebuilding calipers is pretty straightforward.

If you are not worried about keeping the standard shift pattern, most of the dirtbike shifters can be hung directly, pointing back, and you have GP shift and have eliminated linkage, shift rod, pivots and complication. I forget what one worked best for my size 13 foot without having to change the length.. I want to say xr100

Cheapest way to deal with the brake caliper is just to rebuild it. There are walk throughs on here.. But really its just a matter of popping out the pucks, polishing them, and putting them back in (with new seals if needed. Ive done many without. )
