  • 1998 cbr600 front end

Hi forum members, newb here. I currently have an 88 hawk and I am wondering if a 1998 cbr600 front end will bolt direct to my bike? Any issues I need to be aware of or other parts I would need?

It will slot right in. You won't have the speedo gearbox so you will need an alternate speedo. You'll also likely need to figure out some steering stops.

They are 41mm just like stock, no need to swap out triples.

Correct, but the OP asked about the front end.

Very much diminishing returns to change the trail a little bit with F3 triples. But I guess I have no idea what he actually meant by "front end" and what he ultimately wants out of this.

I like the look of it, but is it better to just rebuild the front original forks with new springs and emulators?

Turns out the forks are from a newer cbr and measure 48mm at the top and 53mm at the bottom triples. Guessing they won’t work? Also is the different rake going to be brutal on the handling of the bike?

Not in stock triples, obviously, but the triples and stem should fit. It depends on what you are after. Straight rate springs for your weight and emulators are a very good upgrade.

You'll have to do some measuring. Personally, I have the rear end jacked up and dropped the front end so trail is around 100mm-104mm.

                  +1

I have straight rate and emulators in my 88 forks and they are a solid upgrade. I added length to the my aftermarket shock and slid the forks up in the triples. No trail numbers to report on my set-up but, but it is very good.

So picked up a Honda 929 front end complete with master cylinder, front rim, triple trees, brake rotors and both calibres, plus levers and fork tubes for 100 dollars canadian. Should this fit with all balls parts on my 88 hawk? Anyone done this mod before?

A number of people have done the 929/954 front end. The only thing to solve I believe are steering stops.
