  • Power but no crank

The other day I went for a ride about 90 minutes into my Guages started to go crazy and it died. Pushed it home tried to pop start it on the hill and wouldn't start up really.
got a new battery now changed the 10 amp ignition fuse
now it started for about 20 seconds and died again.
what could be causing this to happen

    Is the ignition fuse blowing?

ok, was the fuse blown ? did you at least measure battery voltage after a period on a charger ? people reluctant to learn electrical troubleshooting usually throw a
new battery [or two] at the bike first thing.

The fuse is shorted and popped? Or is overloaded and melted?

starting to suspect a failed fuel pump, which often blows ign fuse..

Stupid question, but it's the right fuse right? Someone didn't stick a 10 in there or something?

                    Shorts suck.

Get out your meter and keep unplugging shit till the short goes away...

Fuses blow 1 of 2 ways. A slow blown fuse from an overloaded circuit looks different than a popped fuse from a short.

Consult the wiring diagram and start unplugging the devices on that circuit until it no longer happens.

Or undo the very last thing you did.

try unplugging the fuel pump first

Yes, as other people said already, the first suspect in case of a blown ignition fuse is usually the fuel pump.
Try disconnecting it, put a fresh fuse, and see if the engine starts.
