  • Rear Axle Disk Brake Bolts & Nuts

After removing the rear wheel I noticed that the rear axle disk brake bolts (4 of them) had locking nuts on them on the wheel side of the axle. Two of the bolts also had an addition nut at the end of the bolt but the other 2 did not. See rear wheel diagram parts number # 19, 24 & 25. The missing nuts are #25 and are unavailable. Their bolts are at 3:00 & 6:00 on the photo. What are owners doing if they need these nuts ? Will the missing nuts cause any problems ? I have no idea how long they have been missing.... at least 10k miles. Thanks for the help.

Not Missing. I believe the norm is that there is only one extra nut.

Yes it is puzzling but like nt650hawk says it is normal and usually just one extra nut. I wondered if it was to balance the hub?

Weird, mine has no extras. Mine is a 91 though so maybe they quit putting on extras?

Mine had one extra, I thought it was weird. I did not re-install it after properly torquing the nuts.
