    Hey all,

Picked up an 89 Hawk last night. Reads high 40's on the odometer and has sat for a few years. But for a hundred bucks, you can't beat it.

I normally ride a 79 Yamaha 750special, but wanted something sportier, hence the Hawk.

Oh, from Dallas, TX so if any locals know of a good beer house, I can easily be cajoled into hoisting a few. =>

I'll get some pics up this weekend. Finally got the Yamaha up and running, and the kick start lever sheared off on me (electric starter still needs some work) so it's out till I can track one down.

Hopefully I can get the carbs off the Hawk this weekend and maybe get it further along the road to riding.

On a related note, am I missing something getting the carbs off, or are the just REALLY stuck on???

just loosen the claps around the carb inlets take off the cabels and yank. Mine were stuck pretty good.
90 Hawk. What can I do to make it better?
78 yz125. What can I do to destroy this thing?

What's the easiest way to get the throttle cables loose?

wow 100$. I had to yank on my carbs pretty good to get them off. I left the throttle cable attached until I had the carbs off. After the carbs were off the cables were slack and easy to get out.

Well, as it turns out, the kickstart lever from my yamaha that snapped off the other day makes for a perfect carb removal lever on the Hawk.

Always fun to find that most of the screws for the carb covers have been stripped out.... Whee.

That is what you get for $100.

This beats mine for cheapest Hawk. I think the AK47 I traded for my Hawk cost a little more than $100 (but not much).

                        Congrats and welcome.

You say AK47 so casually... funny shit.
