Thought I'd drop in and say HI! I've had my 89 red Hawk since 2000 but it has languished in the garage since 04. I've decided to haul it out this week and see if I'm able to breath some new life into it. So far the battery looks like it may come back to life. The fuel tank was real ugly inside currently off the bike and soaking in CLR trying to get all the junk out of it. The fork seals look like they need to be redone. And my insturment cluster may be totally wrecked from a fall in the Garage. I'll let you know how it goes.

Another Hawk being brought back into business is good news. Any chance you could post a few pics?

          Thanks for the feedback

Well I am beginning to understand why everyone raves about this forum. Thanks for the welcome.
Chesterton is a little east of Gary on the lake.
I will try to get some pictures of the bike up in the next couple of days.
The post about the speedo/tach would be great if this isn't an April Fool joke please email me and let me know what you want for it.

I may also need some bodywork soon, Tank, rear cowl, maybe a new seat.
          Thanks again for everything

                        headlight

Well I can't say how hip it is (you'd have to ask other headlights) But yes it is a square headlight. When it's not naked my Hawk has a Spec II full fairing on it. I'm not sure yet if I'll keep it or redo the bike with a sleeker look. There are a couple of really sweet looking Hawks shown by members of the forum that I really like. In particular I would like to find a cleaner looking seat, rear cowling. Like everyone else I have a rear seat cowling with one tab left. But first I need to get it running, I was not able to Resurrect my battery so I ordered one last night from Batteries to go, however the free shipping was ground and will probably be a week before I get it.

did you down size the battery???

                          i just ordered a ytz7-s

you mentioned a new tail section, a smaller battery might help later on if you relocate it somewhere else
