    Old Hawker, new NorCal member

    Hey, Hawkistas,

I've been lurking around this site for a while now, and it seemed only right that I join up. Have found some useful &/or interesting info here, and it's been great seeing all the pix of other Hawks; I seldom see another one on the road around here (although there is one that rides past my office almost every day at quarter past 4 in the pm. I really should go out and flag him down one of these days).

I've been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, and enjoying the heck out of my grey '88 NT650 for 13 years now. It's still stock except for the Corbin seat (which, although pretty ugly, makes those 500+ mile days much more enjoyable), TeleFix bars, bar-end mirrors, braided brake lines, small Givi windscreen that is sometimes on, sometimes not, and winkers.

I commute on it most nice days, take it on sometimes relaxed, sometimes canyon-strafing day rides (depending on who I'm riding with), and occasional multi-day tours around Northern Calif. For some inexplicable reason, a large percentage of my regular riding buddies are on Beemers, but no matter who I ride with, they always tell me that they've always liked "those old Hawks". I'll post up some photos (in the appropriate thread) of my bird at some of the places it likes to take me.

I also hang out at Pashnit.com/forum, if any of y'all are familiar with that site.

Thanks for a great forum, looking forward to staying a while...

Howdy and welcome Rob! Sure wish we had more norcal weather back east! The winter does give us lots of time to fix and or mod things (too much time some would say, myself included!) But starting today we are getting nice riding weather!

Lookin foward to seeing your bike in some nice locals. I once did a ride down the west coast road from Oregon to LA. Some great riding out there!

      Welcome Rob!

I took my bike in to work today! First time all year I have been on it.

It was the Ducati not the Hawk but I am still happy!

        Hi Rob,
I have owned my '88 grey Hawk since '97 and live in Sacramento. Since I have several bikes, you probably haven't seen mine on the road much; currently I am having some fuel delivery problems and suspect the carbs. My bad. Funny you mention the Beemers, as I have been a Beemer rider since '83 and currently own two. Who knows, you may have seen me on the R1200C or the green Rockster (I have a ponytail)? I am in the Arden-Arcade area.

I am riding up to Chico tomorrow to Ozzie's BMW for their Open House, and I am sure all bikes are welcome.
