Hey, Hawkistas,
I've been lurking around this site for a while now, and it seemed only right that I join up. Have found some useful &/or interesting info here, and it's been great seeing all the pix of other Hawks; I seldom see another one on the road around here (although there is one that rides past my office almost every day at quarter past 4 in the pm. I really should go out and flag him down one of these days).
I've been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, and enjoying the heck out of my grey '88 NT650 for 13 years now. It's still stock except for the Corbin seat (which, although pretty ugly, makes those 500+ mile days much more enjoyable), TeleFix bars, bar-end mirrors, braided brake lines, small Givi windscreen that is sometimes on, sometimes not, and winkers.
I commute on it most nice days, take it on sometimes relaxed, sometimes canyon-strafing day rides (depending on who I'm riding with), and occasional multi-day tours around Northern Calif. For some inexplicable reason, a large percentage of my regular riding buddies are on Beemers, but no matter who I ride with, they always tell me that they've always liked "those old Hawks". I'll post up some photos (in the appropriate thread) of my bird at some of the places it likes to take me.
I also hang out at Pashnit.com/forum, if any of y'all are familiar with that site.
Thanks for a great forum, looking forward to staying a while...
