New in town ridin the family heirloom

Stumbled across this forum while looking for parts in my rush to get my mostly stock '89 ready for spring. Great to see such an interest. My '89s been passed down to me by my father, not that I haven't been riding it for years. Now to slowly transform it a little. Snow is finally off the road so I'm going out...

    Welcome to the Site!

This site has been slow to take off, but now that the season is changing, it is starting to bustle with activity.

You should post some pics of your bike.

Welcome! Get some pics up. What have you been doing to get her ready for the summer? Anything special?

I'm starting by just replacing everything the manual calls for after 24k miles, air filter (stayed w/stock cause i dont have jet kit or exhaust), oil, coolant, brake fluid, chain, f/r sprockets. I also removed the klunky rear fender and placed my plate up in the rear for better looks. I hope to have new f/r turn signals on next month. Then I'll look for clip-ons, bar end mirrors, and maybe a bike computer for speedo. More so going for a smoother look than stock offered. I'm on a strict budget from the wife. She thinks its more important to put money toward the children (what does she know anyway) and with my third having just been born the budget got tighter. My oldest is finally old enough to reach the passenger pegs so she got a helmet from grandpa and loved her first ride. Now I'm really glad I have a corbin seat with removable backrest. It keeps her on when I give it juice. I'll try for pics when I figure out how to do it.
