    New in SOCAL

I ran into a guy in a parking lot (coleman powersports in hoodbridge ,VA...thanks dude) who told me about this forum and I glad he did. Since HAWKGT.COM went belly up I was missing the HAWK love. So here I am w/ Heidi my 88 HAWK.,found on ebay less than 20 miles from my house. That was 3 years, 15,000miles a a bunch of money ago.

So far she has the Wantenabe carbon tank, lindeman f2 front end, penske shock, ss lines, chafong rearsets, corbin seat, weisco pistons, corrillo rods, cam grind, port polish, ti valve springs, unis, factory jet kit and short shift kit, carbon clutch, recut gears and modified twobros highmount exhaust. She dynos at about 65hp and still gets 50mpg, pretty nice with the 5 gallon tank. I think there is a few more hp, the jetting isn't quite perfect yet.

I am moving out to San Diego next week so if you guys can recommend a good shop, I would really appriciate your help, and if any of you guys are down there, then let's ride sometime ! I'll post a pic too if one of you guys can tell me how...
    Cheers!

Nice bike. What do you mean hawkgt.com went belly up? I still get messages everyday.

        my bad, but actually good

Cool, got back from deployment awhile ago and when I checked out the site, I looked through the classifieds and 0 activity, so I thought it was defunct. Should have dug a little more.
        Thanks,

          USM,
Welcome to the forums. And that is awesome that someone told you about the site in a parkinglot, who was it? someone confess.
That is a good looking bike..it sounds like it is a little quicker than mine.
Anyway, I dont really know too many shops, anywhere in the world, but I thought I had better welcome you.

It is a work in progress, started out as a 2bros left side, but kept decking the header on the left, then tried a buell style setup, but kept decking on the right, so this was the compromise for now. Sounds awsome though, and never have clearance problems any more...

Don't alter the header...it's the can that's an eyesore. It looks very out of place. Go to the base of the midpipe, just before the bend, and take a 1/4" wedge out of it and reweld. Then take that bend out before the pipe. Make it flow with the lines a bit more.

I am. I was in NOVA too long, and I am jazzed about living in San Diego. Unfortunately I will be there only a about a month and a half before I go to Iraq for 6 months. Should be enough time to get some practice in on Palomar Canyon though.. Sorry about the Monster, are you both alright?

Enjoy Palomar!...I've seen from www.ridebehindvideos.com the niceness of that set of twisties!....too bad about it being a short visit...but you'll be back soon!....be safe and well in the big sand box my friend...I have a buddy on deployment over there as a medical triage technician....and another guy I know is over there training the Afghani troops to support and defend themselves....as far as the Monster.....well....sweaty hands inside the gloves led to me having to readjust my hand inside the glove while still on the throttle and as I did so....the glove got caught up in the throttle and I 12 O'clock wheelied the bike and fell off the back and then it landed on my right leg...suffered severe bone bruising in my right ankle....my boots kept my leg and ankle from being broken....and my jacket and pants got shredded pretty good...but no rash and no other injuries...the bike suffered broken rearset, broken rear brake line, scraped to hell clutch cover, broken rear turn signal, bent bars and slightly busted front fairing, and the exhaust can and upsweep pipe on the right side is done also....but is all repairable and have most of the parts en route..so I should be back on the road in a couple few weeks!
