    joining the fray..

    Hello all,
First post today, but I've been lurking for a while. I bought a 91 hawk in January and let it sit for quite a while before really riding. I still don't get to ride as much as I'd like, especially since I have no commute to work.
Immediately after purchasing the bike, I had to rejet it because it had a serious bog problem. Some leaner jets and everythings gravy at the moment. I'm in the process of putting on some new Avons and chain/sprockets this week, and hopefully I'll feel a bit safer without the cut rear tire. Only think I don't like about my bike is that some gooberhead painted it purple once-upon-a-time. Proper red paint will be coming in the next few months, I hope. Enjoy the ride.

ps. that handle comes from my college mtn bike racing days, but applies just as well to the motor bike. Slow and steady!

It probably is a California model, if it's a 91. Does it have the emissions kit?

Shows what I know; I had no idea the 91 was special. The guy I bought it from claimed to have swapped the engine after the first one blew. As far as I can tell, there is no emission equipment on there; but that could be because he took it off, or its not a Cali model. How would I determine if it was orginally emissions equipped?
I'll snap a couple shots today after I get the wheels back on.
