    I can't beleive it!!!

I decided to join the forum today! I have never seen another Hawk on the street and I have been riding for about 8 years.

Last night I had my first accident on my Hawk as I rode in the late evening on a dark secluded street. I was cruising along at about 55 and saw a deer caugt in my headlamp. To close to stop, so a quick swerve and all was O.K....for about a half second when I hit a second deer square on. It was like riding through a brick wall.

Fortunately for me, I sustained a rather tough knock to me marbles. But other than that I'm fine. I rode back and found the poor soul and there was nothing I could do. It did die instantly and I feel sooooo bad.

The hawk, however, did sustain damage but not nearly as much as I think it would have hitting a deer at 50 MPH. Front fender is complete but many stress fractures and chipped paint. I suspect a hoof punctured the line to the radiator as coolant leaked the whole way home. I have not had a chance to look at it completely, but am happy that I lived to tell this tale.

Who better to appreciate this than fellow Hawksters.

    P.S. what a machine. I love it!!!

Sorry 'bout your run-in with the deer. Glad you're not injured and that the Hawk was in good enough shape to limp home.

Hm... I recently highsided my Hawk at the track. Simple case of overcooking the first corner after the straight - I hauled it down from 95 to about 55, but still went wide and highsided as I hit the dirt/grass. No real injuries to me, but unfortunately the gas tank is dented because a clip-on slipped back, the radiator is bent, and the speedometer was destroyed...

I think the problem with those deer whistles is that they clog up pretty quickly with bugs.... I have heard that when clean they do work. I don't have one on my bike but I am planning on doing the headlight wiring up grade to get more light on the road.
