Hi fellow Hawkers.
Makes the back of my throat swell up just to say that.
I've checked out this site before but decided it was time to post.
Being that winter in seattle is about to set in and it will be reaining for the next few months I think it is time for some mods.
I have done a few but am ready to take a further leap this time and drastically change things and was wanting to get some opinions.
Front end: I have allready put new progresive springs in the forks but am still not happy. I am currently on the hunt for and f2 or f3 front end to swap out with. Are there any other good suggestions out there? I've got a local guy at http://www.bikesalvage.com/ that I have put in a request with but if I can widen my choices that might make it easier to find something in my pricerange.
Exhaust: I installed a supertrap not long after I got the bike(but after this pic) and like it but was thinking that I would like to add a little pipe to it to get it up higher and hug the cowl a little. I'll be ditching the passenger pegs if it works out. Also cutting of all the rest of that useless shit hanging of the seat frame.
Signals: I really like the idea of the idea of the trailer hitch system of the blinkers in the brake lights but I tend to get most of my saddle time commuting and really like people knowing which way I am going. I had seen a hawk with the rear Mini flashers mounted in the cowling right in front of the brake light and the front flahers mounted on the headlight brackets. Anyone have experience good or bad with the cowling idea?
Paint: Now some would scoff at this idea but it intrigues me anyway. Has anyone stripped their tank completely all the way to bare metal? I am curious to know how it looks at that point.
I have this fascination with bare metal and was thinking about having it sandblasted and clear coating it. Then painting the rest of the bike black, along with powdercoating the wheels.
What else should I do to make it look cool?
That's the goal this winter.
Next year will be making it faster..............
The pic attached is from when I first got the bike a few years ago, but I will try and get some new ones up when I start tearing it apart.
