    brooklynHawk

First time on the forum, first day with the Hawk. (after being patient and looking around for a good one)
I think this is a good one. Here's how it's set up, or is set up to be set up as the previous owner had it in pieces about to part it out.
    It's an '88...
    -cbr F3 front suspension
    -cbr F2 front wheel
    -vfr750 rear wheel
    -foxshox double clicker rear suspension
-cb1 clip ons or bars (whatever you want to call them)
    -brand new hand controls
    -" " throttle cables
-stainless braided lines fitted inside clear hosing

Glad to be part of the Hawk scene...

...will post pics as soon as i take them and as the bike comes together.

Hey, bud. I'm in Queens on the Bklyn border if you ever need anything. Lemme know if you need a hand putting it back together.

          Thanks for the welcome guys!
The bike is now sitting about 12 feet from me in my bedroom where I will pick apart any parts that need cleaning (not much cleaning to do here, though, really) and slowly put it together.
Any advice on "winterizing" the bike? I don't know the last time it was run, but I guess I need to drain all the fluids and then...? It's going to be a little while until it is ready to ride and I think I might have to discipline myself and wait for "winter" to be over. I can continue riding my cb350 cafe bike to keep me happy in the meantime.

Doug, seeing that you are from Queens was at least half the reason I joined the forum. I'm sure I'll have many questions and as much as I want to make it all mine, I might even request a little show-how once or twice.

Where can I see pics of your hawk, Doug?

          Thanks again, all!

Winterizing the Hawk is simple. If it is staying in your bedroom.

Put a tank of gas in it and some fuel stabilizer and run it for 10-15 min then turn the gas off and let it run out. This clears the gas outta the carbs.

Put it up on stands lube the heck outta the chain and wax the bike. Done.

                hawkLer,

                My bike's here:

There are plenty of Hawkers in our area. Steve Lenac is in Jersey and is the man to know if you're in the northeast. I wish he'd join the forum, dammit, but he's old-school and only does the List. Abe, another guy on the www.hawkgt.com email list, is in Park Slope. Martina's in Manhattan, along with a handful of others. More people upstate: Dick Wolcott, and Ihab. Definitely get acquainted with the people on the listserv.

Hooligang, on YahooGroups, is another great resource for riders in the NY area. Jimmy D holds BBQ/wrenching parties all the time at his place on Long Island. It was those guys who helped me get my clip-ons under the top triple and take off the gauges, and make it look more like a cafe racer!
