    Just bought my first BROS

    Hi there.
I've just bought myself a BROS400 last weekend and am loving it more and more each time I ride it. I can't get over how well it handles!! she's a little beauty this bike. And are really rare over here.

Everything on this bike is stock standard. It's done 25000kms, and is a 1988 model. I was just wondering is there anything I should specially check or do to it to make her run sweeter? I mean she runs a little rough at the moment in idle but within "ok roughness" and the brakes are a little spongy. I've bled them and that's helped a bit. Is there anything I need to do or I can change to help her run any better? She seems to bog down in the revs a bit down low and then free up after 4000rpm. (that maybe cause I was riding a ZXR750 previous) Any restrictors in the header pipes? At the end pipe? I notice there is a huge box looking muffler just above the centre stand. What's the go with that fella?

Anyway thanks for any advice. I'm so glad I found this forum I thought I was on my own with this bike...

Hows it going.. you've come to the right place for advise..

I bought mine about a month ago now.. Love it to bits and i've come down from an R1 !!!

That massive box is just the silencer, exhausts aren't that expensive for them and it will run better.. (saying that i'm still waiting for mine) tell you what tho.. if you take the exhaust off and start it up.. F*ck me is it loud !

The bikes only done 25k and its what 18 years old, so i'ld give it a good service and you should be ok, get some carb cleaner but after a major service you should see a massive difference..

Theres loads of bits and bobs for it

For example http://www.fuelexhausts.com/Results.cfm?scndctgry_ID=8 thats where i've ordered mine..

    and parts

http://shop.wemoto.com/index.dyn?oid=25327 not sure if they'll send that far but there if u need anything... another great place is ebay !!

    Happy Riding !

id definately lose the pipe for something that breaths a bit easier! i bought my girlfriend a fuel can, and she was well impressed with how it pulls so much stronger all the way to the red! Id also go for some steel brake lines! if it has the original rubber ones on they are well past there sell by date!

        cheers

Ok so the one of the first things seem to be to get rid of the stocko exhaust and have a look at some braided lines. I've had acouple of exhausts fitted on previous bikes and they haven't really improved the performance much on those. (mainly inline 4's) I'll have a look around see what the exhaust shops here can do with modding what the stock one. I do like the look of it. Specially how it's all coming back in with the R1 and the GSXR's. Thanks for tips fellas

I would say look into upgrading your suspension first.

You are not going to see alot of improvement in HP on that bike so you should try and use what you have to it's best potential.

              Suspension will do that.

Hey that's the kind of thing I was asking about! What have people been doing to upgrade the suspension? I read somewhere about putting in Blade rear shocks and springs. Is that to make them fully adjustable? Also is that a straight remove and replace job? we get a lot of wrecked blade's and R1's around here so they're quite easy to get hold of...
