  • Greetings from California

    Hello All,

I am a new (accidental) Hawk owner. I have the bones of a very sad, very seized, 1988 race bike that I'm going to play around with. My only previous experience with the breed is tearing around with a mate on his Bros, donkeys years ago. Not inauspiciously, I think we probably held the record for biggest, two up air on a Bros 400.

    Cheers!
    J.

Cheers chap, that's very kind! At the moment, I'm in a bit of a quandary - the current lump is terminal (rusted out front cylinder.) Bit of a toss up whether I score another motor off ebay for 500 or so, or stick an old YPVS motor I have in there. The sad thing is, it has some really cool bits (original two bros system, Keihin FCRs etc) but they're not going to do much good on a stock motor....
I've got two other bikes to put back together first so no rush!

If I lived near the Pasedena/Rose Bowl area I'd be spending a lot of time checking out Hwy 2 and riding the back side of Mt Wilson and just following the Angeles Crest Highway. Go see Big Tujunga Dam overlook and check out the rest of 2 going Eastwards all the way around to 136 and go through Cajon and follow historic 66 until it meets back to IH 15 and starts circling back to the front side of Mt Wilso and gets you back. Seems like it would be a nice loop to check out at the right time of day.
