New here, been riding since my teens, so that makes about 45 years! Here's my crazy Hawk story:
Mid '90s I was working for a place in Charlottesville VA that sold parts for Italian cars via mail order. A co-worker was an amateur bike racer, and somehow came into possession of a Hawk that had been raced for a few seasons, then put back into street trim. The bike had only about 4000 miles on it. This co-worker sold the Hawk to a friend of mine, Jonathan, for his girlfriend Jennifer. A year or so later, Jonathan and Jennifer moved to Colorado. The bike went with them, but saw little use. J & J split up, she moved to Pennsylvania, and the bike went with her. it sat, unused, for maybe five years. J & J remained friends, and one day she called him and asked if he wanted the Hawk, for the price of transporting it. Of course he said yes, and off it went, back to Colorado. Jonathan cleaned out the gas tank, rebuilt the carbs, rode it a couple of times, then let it sit.
A couple of years ago, Jonathan called me and asked if I'd like to have the Hawk, for the price of transporting it. I of course said yes. This is how I came to be given a Honda Hawk, with now only 6000 miles on it. I will not let it sit once I get it straightened out again. Cheers!
