Glad to have you as a member here, Rich! Welcome!

My guess is, the moment you lean your new "daily driver" into a corner, you'll be hooked on projects just like the rest of us! The Hawk/Bros is a very special little carver.

      My name is Steven,

I've been a hawkaholic for just over a year now.

It started out just as a daily rider to and from work, but as the summer went on, I started experimenting more with corners, it felt soooo good that I just couldn't stop. Corners turned into to twisties, and it could even turn to track days if I'm not careful. I never thought that my little 19 year old bike would consume my life the way it has, but those corners are what pulled me in, they call it the gateway ride.

is there anyone else that wants to share? maybe we can help Guzzisti57 with his issue.

Picked the Bros up as planned and rode 100 miles home along the M6.
Quite impressed: thrums along nicely at 75-80mph, didn't miss a beat!

          A couple of questions:

The tyres are a bit shot, the recommendation seems to be MEZ1 (or 2?)
Is this still reckoned to be the best choice, & is 160/60 better than 150/70 on th rear ?

The rear shock has almost no damping, are there shocks from other bikes that will fit?

And lastly, is there anyone in the UK who has a 650 (or better still, an africa twin 750!) engine they want to sell...

          Thanks for any help

          cheers

dunno how your prices are over there but if you'll be doing a lot of commuting I reccomend the michelin pilot roads, i have a 160/60 on the rear and a 110/70 up front. EXCELLENT traction in rain and the tire had great durability for daily commuting and still has plenty of performance for the weekend twisties

Welcome aboard .Always nice to see new BROS 400 riders around . About tyres I can't help you much because my Bros is the MK - II PGM version and it has a 150/60-18 rear so I stick to the Bridgestone BT 92. As for engines you asked , besides the Africa Twin engine the Transalp 650 fits even better .I think with the AT motor and the the 12 lt tank you probably need a stop for gas every 120 km . There is AT engine for sell here in case you are interested . Check this

. This AT engine is sold for 600 euros ( no carbs included) and has ran some 39ooo km and it has all the registration papers . PM if you need any more info .

                ya another 400 rider.
Tyres, I'm running Dunlop GT501 front and rear ( came with the bike) they seem alright.
I have the J model which is an 88
Havn't modded yet still learning the in and outs and the fact that most mod parts are ex overseas for me.
The Bros 400 is a bit of foreign beast here in NZ. Some Honda dealerships ask, wants that?

                But I enjoy the ride
