  • Hardly a new member but I'm back

    Hi all,

After selling my minty '90 RC31 ten years ago, I've acquired a somewhat sad RC31 from a buddy and will be starting a restoration. The bike has sat for 20+ years and needs some love.

It will join a 2003 Buell XB9R Firebolt, 1998 Yamaha R1, 1995 Ducati 900SS/SP, and 1986 Suzuki GSX-R1100 in the garage. I reckon I'll be posting here a bit as I look for parts and advice. I was a semi-active member of the email Hawklist for years and look forward to rejoining the community!

    Cheers,

    Welcome/welcome back.

post up some pics of your new project. We love ti watch a transformation.

One of the nice things about hawks, Teey sit for a long time really well. They don't seem to corrode up, seize up, split up quite like some other bikes to. They can usually come back to life with a reasonable amount of effort. CAnt wait to see.

Don't spend money and buy, spend time and learn.

The tank and seat paint on that bike was original - it's a Canadian market 1990 model. I think it was called Candy Bourgogne Red.

Here’s the starting point for my new project. I’ve ordered tires, grips and clipons, will need a windscreen and top fairing mount for a start.

Pretty good starting point. Look forward to seeing your build. Maybe with the cowl "relieved" you can lower the whole thing and bring the lines / proportions in a bit. (Don't know if lower bars are part of your plan...)

Definitely… new clipons will mount below the triples the way God and Toshiaki Kishi intended!

Well a few hours’ work this weekend and we have some progress. New clipons under the triples, fairing repositioned. Still need a top fairing bracket and mirrors but looks waaay better I reckon.

Slight change of direction as I picked up an original TBR fairing and brackets. Installed this morning and it looks awesome. Now to pick a colour scheme.

                            Hahahahaha nope.

Thinking RC30 replica or TBR red/white/blue from their original Pro Twin Modified bike.
