    Bike Tests ???

What sort of test do you have to do where your from

I lived in England and had to do a CBT which is a training course that allows you to ride up to 33hp

But in Ireland you can just get on and ride using a provisional licence

We have a permit here where you take a written test and you can ride ANY BIKE on the street during the day without a passenger. NUTZ!

After you can take your License test the next day if you like but your permit last 6 months and you can renew the permit if you are not ready to test.

The test was difficult when I first took it but today it is a joke. Weave through some comes, do a panic stop, a big turn and that is about it.

I took the Experienced rider course given by MSF and that should be wht you have to do to get your license.

      Graduated licencing

Here in Canada (Ontario) we use a graduated system of 3 steps.
Very hard to describe exactly, but it does not limit bike size. Insurance companies keep the superbikes prohibitively expensive. As a new rider, you cant carry passengers, ride at night or on the superhighways, or have any blood alcohol. Minimum time to graduate to an unrestricted motorcycle licence is 18months. Cars are also very much the same.

33hp??? thats flipping dangerous! A new rider on an underpowered scooter. That will keep the popularity of motorcycles down for sure. Maybe the conditions warrant it, but that seems to put new riders in a very uncomfortable position.

In Ohio we have the same kinda of deal. Take a written test and get a permit that allows you to ride with a helmet, no passengers, daytime and non-hwy for 6 months and can be renewed over and over and over again.

The BMV bike test is basic riders stuff but in Ohio we also have the MSF program that can be taken at a vocational school which has a 2 night class program and a 2 day riding program and than a written and riding test at the end. If you pass that the state will issue the "M" endorsment on your license and you don't need to take the state riding test. The MSF program is really good and should be the norm cause the state version is really basic and not the greatest.

I think they are based on what it costs to replace parts, engine size and how likely the bike is to be crashed.

                          Bros 650 Fully comprehensive £96 ($182.81)

You Guys in the USA have various bike laws from state to state. How does that work if your travelling across America and through different states
And you can turn left or right (can't remember which) when the lights are red
Then again you do have film stars in government
If your not livin' on the edge your taking up too much room

You can turn right on red, because we drive on the correct side of the road! But you can't make a right on red everywhere... like, everywhere except in NYC and the 5 boroughs. In the suburbs, yeah.
